Apple mobile me mail working sometimes

I originally wrote this post on the 7th of july 2008 and updated it in September.
Apple have updated their alias’s so that all the smtp traffic you send to me.com get’s routed to the correct inbox so you can email username@me.com
they completly failed in their migrations prompting a letter from CEO to all the subscribers of the service things like the sent items folder not being properly restored to the correct IMAP path for me personally and host of problems plagued the system but on with the show so \
now the server address’s are
SMTP server = smtp.me.com
IMAP server = mail.me.com

these are both run by Sun iPlanet mail servers what is interesting is that they still have a different incoming MX IP address’s although they reach the same hosts in the apple cluster

What will be interesting is what servers they are using for the push email (I still dont know) and if they will stick to the iPlanet servers (that frankly have far better throughput than others) or upgrade to their own implementation or a stable third party such as exchange. There would be a irony mac.com running Microsoft Exchange servers… I still dont know I will try and do a http dump of some iPhone traffic and post it here
